Little Owl Experience

Nocturnal Workshops - 14 hours. Hideout. Flash photography. Otters. etc.

Rutland the smallest county within the UK, has what can only be described as having one of the best Little Owl Photographic viewing experiences in the country. Thanks to Jamie Hassall, whom together with the landowner has developed an amazing Photographic experience that you, the public, are invited to book for yourselves and have an opportunity to capture these stunning and characterful birds... the experience that the locals are all talking about!

The experience is for a maximum of two people and this can be arranged for an early start as they are usually active from dawn to mid-morning and or then again mid-afternoon until dusk.
The little owls are generally nocturnal however, they are active within the daytime when they have young and are more active from Mid-May to late September on our site from experience.
During the breeding time they can appear at any time so be ready for them, they're quick, agile and extremely alert whilst adorable to photograph.

The Hide
The hide is comfortable for two people with ample room to hang your coats up, relax and setup in the dry knowing should there be a shower pass by you and your gear shall stay safe.
Within the hide, two base plates are available to use with your tripod heads. This shall fit to a (3/8) fitting. We also have adapters to convert the smaller diameter plate screws if this is what you have.
The hide has a mesh across the viewing window and only your lenses should be placed through these holes. Please note, placing arms through the holes or looking out for owls is strictly not acceptable.
Noise is to be kept to a minimum and once you are in the hide then, unless necessary, please stay inside as to avoid putting off the little owls appearing.
The hide itself has been built by a photographer (Jamie) for photographers and is set on rural farmland very close to a breeding pair of owls, whom when the time is right shall bring their young to the perches should you be lucky on your time of booking to see them.

Perches have been constructed so that they ensure clean backgrounds for your photos. Maximising the best angles for you to capture the owls along with the evening light setting on the hillside ensuring some special backlit photo opportunities should they arise, along with chances of flight and landing photos to name a few.

The hide and experience are suitable for all levels of photographer, from beginners who are new to wildlife photography and would like a one to one session, up to seasonal professionals who know what image they want
ONCE I CAN CONFIRM THEY HAVE BRED DATES WILL BE ADDED
